Reflectors & Diffusers

Reflectors redirect light while diffusers scatter it. Used separately or together, these components can control coverage, source visibility, glare, uniformity, and beam appearance.

Reflectors and diffusers perform different optical functions. Reflectors intentionally change ray direction, while diffusers create controlled scattering. Combining these functions can help industrial designers produce useful distributions from compact LED sources.

Reflector geometry can intercept light that would otherwise travel outside the useful beam and redirect it toward the target.

Diffusers can reduce visible LED hot spots, soften hard transitions, enlarge the apparent source, and blend output from multiple emitters.

Increased diffusion can also change transmitted intensity and distribution, so it should be evaluated as part of the complete optical system.
