GLOBE at Night campaign

More than 18,000 citizen-scientists in 96 countries submitted 4,591 observations of the darkness of their local night skies during the 10-day GLOBE at Night event (March 8-211, 2007).

How many stars can we still see? - Austria
In 2001 one of us started "How many stars can we still see?", http://sternhell.at a public outreach campaign in Austria. The goals were to raise light pollution awareness and to make nation-wide estimates of the actual state of the skies by asking people via the media to look at their home-skies and report back how many stars they see when looking at the big dipper and the little dipper.
