Hoag/Robinson Award 2007
During the Starlight Conference, the IDA delivered the Hoag/Robinson Award 2007 to   Pedro Sanhueza, Director of the Office for the Protection of the Quality of the Sky (OPCC-Chile) .

First meeting of the Starlight Scientific Committee
La Palma, November 23-24, 2006

The island of  La Palma (Biosphere Reserve) hosted on November 23-24, 2006 the first meeting of the Starlight 2007 Scientific Committee. The meeting was part of the  preparatory process for the forthcoming Starlight International Conference of April 2007. During the meeting, motives and objectives of the initiatives were debated, as well as the  contents of the International Conference that will be held on the same island in April 2007.

More than 18,000 citizen-scientists in 96 countries submitted 4,591 observations of the darkness of their local night skies during the 10-day GLOBE at Night event (March 8-211, 2007).

OPCC-Chile: Focal Point of the Starlight Initiative
During the Scientific Committee meeting of last November, and on proposal of the OPCC (Office for the Protection of Northern Chile Sky Quality), it was agreed that this institution would act as a focal point of the Starlight 2007 Initiative and would cooperate in the dissemination of the International Conference in Defence of the Quality of the Night Sky and the Right to the Starlight that will be held in April 2007 on the island of La Palma.
